1 Peter 3

In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word, seeing y’all’s pure and respectful way of life. Let the arrangement of who you are come not merely from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on fine clothing, but from the hidden heart of a human, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight. For this is how in the past the holy women who hoped in God adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands, just Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. Y’all are her children you now are if you do good and are not frightened by any terror.

Husbands, in the same way, y’all should dwell together with y’all’s wives in an understanding way, showing them honor as a weaker vessel and as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Finally, all of y’all* be like-minded, sympathetic, affectionate, compassionate, and humble. Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead give a blessing, because y’all were called so that y’all may inherit a blessing. For,

“Whoever wants to love life and see good days, must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from speaking deceit. They must turn away from evil and do good. They must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and ʜɪꜱ ears are open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”+Psa 34:12-16

Now who will harm y’all if y’all become zealous for what is good? But even if y’all should suffer for the sake of righteousness, y’all are blessed. “Y’all must not fear what they fear, and do not be troubled.”+Isa 8:12 But sanctify Christ as Lord in y’all’s hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks y’all to give a reason for the hope that is in y’all. But do this with gentleness and reverence, keeping a good conscience, so that when y’all are spoken against, those who curse y’all’s good way of life in Christ might be put to shame. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring y’all to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit. In this, he also went and preached to the spirits in prison, who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In the ark, a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water, and this is a symbol of the baptism which now saves y’all (not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God with angels, authorities, and powers arranged as subject to him.
